Are you a musician/singer who has an interest in songwriting? Would you like to work with other like-minded people, improving and exploring your art and craft, in south-west France, in a converted farmhouse with swimming pool? This workshop is aimed at:

If you sing, you sing songs, why not your own? If you write songs, why not sing them yourself?

We hope you will have a relaxed and creative time exploring your song ideas and your singing and music generally. Anton Browne has written many songs himself, and of course has played thousands over his 30 years at The BRIT School. He is competent on keys, guitar, bass, percussion and of course singing. Check out www.antonbrowne.co.uk & www.thesingthing.com Chris Lee is a pianist, arranger and songwriter, whose arranging work can be found on the album Second Take (Spotify.com), and whose latest composition, "A troubled man", is a song-cycle portraying the detective protagonist, Inspector Kurt Wallander, of Henning Mankell's noir thriller series (www.atroubledman.com).

We will do a vocal warm-up every morning to get the blood flowing and may look at a few techniques that may be relevant to the songs people are working on. Anton and Chris will then be available to work with you on all manner of songwriting approaches and issues such as:

The workshop content is not set in stone, as much will depend on the creatives who participate. There will be space for you to go off and work on your song and Anton or Chris may come and visit you to help in any way. There will be time for a songwriting circle each day, where we will look at various songs and take them apart. The days will end with participants performing their works in progress, or completed songs.

Anton has been teaching at The BRIT School since it opened in 1991 and was Professor of Jazz Voice at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance in London for a number of years. Recently, he joined ELAM (East London Arts & Music) - this and BRIT are the two top performing arts schools in London. Along with teaching at various universities and colleges over the years, he was also a vocal coach, on tour with BBC Television’s The Voice UK. He was songwriter in various bands back-in-the-day and has written over 100 songs and of course, played and sung hundreds more as a teacher and busy live performer.
